JorgensenStudio: My jewelry is organic and draws from nature in both form and texture. In nature there is the balance and opposition that mirrors all of our lives. I draw from that juxtaposition for my pieces, and include asymmetry and multiple colors and textures of metal in each piece. The pieces are clean yet rustic for an individual look different from commercial jewelry. I am a potter who wandered into precious metal clay and then finding that limiting, decided to take silversmith classes. I fell in love with gemstones and with metal. The nuances of both clay and metal as a medium are similarly pliable and raw in their first form and allow for unique malleability in the artists hands. They are equally solid and enduring upon completion yet completely transformational. Thus both yielding different end forms can be representational of the ever changing natural world that surrounds us all. It is this intriguing dichotomy that I believe my work represents, capturing the fleeting essence of nature into the enduring form.
